YOUR TRUSTED ISA CERTIFIED ARBORIST
A healthy tree serves many purposes in your local community. A way for homeowners to ensure their trees stay healthy is by hiring an arborist. Professionally trained arborists know how to properly maintain trees for the safety of the public and the health of the tree. Trees are an investment that requires proper tree care; however, pruning or removing trees, especially large trees, can be dangerous work. Tree work should be done only by those trained and equipped to work safely in trees.
What is an Arborist?
Unlike your average groundskeeper or gardener, an arborist is an expert in tree planting, care, maintenance, and removal. They are trained in the science of trees and cater specifically to tree needs and health. In fact, they even have their own organizations! There are organizations for tree care? Yep! Say you need a tree trimmed or removed. You probably check online and find all kinds of options, some cheaper than others, but are they all certified? Wait, people need certifications to handle trees? If you want them to understand the science of tree care as much as they do the manual labor the profession also requires, then yes! By going with a certified arborist, meaning they belong to an organization like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association, you know that this individual or company takes their profession seriously.
What is a Certified Arborist, Should I care?
An ISA arborist certification is a nongovernmental, voluntary process by which individuals can document their base of knowledge. Certification provides a measurable assessment of an individual’s knowledge in the competencies needed for proper tree care. When a professional becomes an ISA Certified Arborist®, they should be recognized by their peers and the public as a tree care professional who has attained a generally accepted level of knowledge in areas such as tree biology, diagnosis, maintenance practices, safety, and other subject and practice areas within the tree care profession as identified through periodic job task analyses. They must also continue their education to maintain their certification. Therefore, they are more likely to be up to date on the latest techniques in arboriculture.
What is the ISA? And What Does It Mean?
The ISA (or International Society of Arboriculture) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the professional practice of arboriculture and greater awareness of the benefits of trees and proper tree care. To stay ISA, an arborist must not only complete a comprehensive examination but also maintain their accreditation. These credentials last three years, at which time the arborist must earn minimum amounts of ISA Continuing Education Units to ensure they are on top of any advancements and changes within the industry and the machinery. They also need to prove that they are up to date on the latest information in modern tree care. Certified arborist companies often showcase the logo to these accredited organizations on their website. To make sure your selected arborist is in fact qualified and insured, you can check the International Society of Arboriculture’s database. You never know who could be scamming you, even for something as unassuming as tree care! You’re already spending enough on tree care, so don’t waste your money on someone not qualified who will either do a poor job or endanger your trees and your own safety, as well as others around you. Don’t consider hiring an arborist who fails to become certified unless you want to end up wasting more time and money in the long run.
Services an Arborist Can Provide:
• Pruning can be necessary for various reasons including improvement of health, appearance and safety. An arborist can determine what type of pruning is necessary.
• Tree removal can be expensive. Consider hiring an arborist when your tree is dead or dying, an unacceptable risk, causing an obstruction, crowding other trees, or located in an area where there’s new construction.
• Removing or pruning storm-damaged trees can be dangerous, but a professional arborist can perform the job safely while reducing further risk of damage to people and property.
• Getting your new tree off to a healthy start will help the tree mature to its full size and ensure it will provide environmental, economic, and social benefits throughout its lifetime. Some arborists plant trees, and most recommend species that are appropriate for certain locations.
• Plant health care or preventive maintenance.
• Cable and bracing for added support to branches with weak attachments.
• Soil aeration to improve root growth

How Much Will It Cost to Trim My Trees?
Investing in your property also includes the upkeep of your landscape, and with proper services you can save a lot in the long run. Giving an estimate without first performing an evaluation for a professional diagnosis is difficult. Every situation is different and trees vary in condition. Our consultations are free and delaying tree trimming can cost you big time in the future!
What Is The Best Season to Have My Trees Serviced?
We always suggest year-round tree maintenance. In terms of having professional services, it depends on what your trees and shrubs may need at the time, and we’re happy to provide an evaluation. For routine trimming, it has historically been considered safest to prune in the winter, but light pruning can be done any season. It is always better to prune ornamental fruit trees in their dormant season.
Other tree maintenance services, such as fertilization or insect protection treatment are generally performed at specific times throughout the year. While fertilization services are recommended in both spring and fall, insect protection services must generally be timed to coincide with the proper vulnerable lifer stage of the organisms being targeted, Though the treatments themselves must be well times, plant healthcare services can usually be evaluated year round!
When Should I Consider Tree Removal?
There are a variety of reasons why your tree might need to come down. Trees can be dead or dying due to poor watering, disease, and pests. They can also have root systems that are interfering with the foundation of your house or even your water supply. For safety, we recommend having one of our professional arborists perform tree removal. Look for these signs your tree may need to be removed:
- Lack of growth.
- Prolific deadwood, particularly in the outer extremities of the tree.
- Severe trunk lean.
- Large cracks or splits in major branches or trunks.
- Signs of disease or decay such as cankers, cavities, & fungi.
- Roots causing structural damage to your home, buried pipes, or driveway.
What Is Stump Grinding Service?
Stump grinding is the most efficient way to remove a tree stump. It is the process of chipping the stump away with the use of a stump grinding machine.
Tree stumps are an unsightly after effect of tree removal and, if left in place, can become a safety hazard, impact lawn equipment, and serve as the new home to pests and disease.
Our stump grinding services include:
- Surface Grade Stump Grind: We will grind the stump down to approximately 6 inches below surface grade of the immediate stump area.
- Deep Grade Stump Grind: We will grind the stump down to approximately 20 inches below surface grade of the immediate stump area.
Pricing for tree stump grinding service depends on the size of stump, site location and access, and material being removed. We will have buried utilities marked prior to service to determine if the site is safe to grind. You will want to avoid placing another tree in the same area, but grass may be planted where the stump removal occurs with topsoil, grass seed, and proper watering.

Is Debris Clean-up a Part of Your Services or is There An Additional Clean-up Fee?
All our services include cleanup. We are often told by customers that we leave their yards cleaner than when we started their project! We use a wood chipper to dispose of branches and leaves, hand rakes to clean up your yard, and blowers to clear paths and sidewalks. We also have equipment to haul away large wood logs.

Wilson Tree Works Too!
“Wilson Tree works exceeded our expectations! The person who came out to look at our yard and prepare a quote listened to what we wanted, answered our questions, made helpful suggestions, and gave us an unexpectedly reasonable price. The office staff replied promptly to every email I sent. And the foreman and crew that did the work were superstars! The foreman kept us apprised of what they were doing, asked for our input and approval as they worked, offered information and advice, and was a joy to have at our home. The crew was obviously skilled at their trade. They worked hard, did a great job, and cleaned up afterward. We will definitely have Wilson Tree Works back again”.
Congratulations on having such a great team!
